Rai Washington
Rai Washington is the Managing Member and Lead Instructor of At Her Defense, LLC, a personal safety training center and licensed Federal Firearms business based in San Antonio, Texas. She is also the Founder and Interim Executive Director of the HERitage Impact Foundation, the Founder and Managing Director of the HERitage Texas Business Council, and the Founder of She Is Missing, a community program under the HERitage Impact Foundation focused on bringing visibility to missing women and girls.
She is a Federal Firearms Licensee, licensed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). She holds multiple state and national certifications, including USCCA Firearms Instructor, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Certified License to Carry Instructor, Countering the Mass Shooter Instructor, and AVERT. She is dual-degreed in Business Management and Accounting, with over 20 years of experience as the owner of her accounting practice before transitioning into the safety and firearms industry.
Rai Washington entered the field of personal safety in 2022. As a survivor of abuse, she founded At Her Defense to help others reclaim their voice and confidence through real-world safety training. She regularly speaks on safety, self-advocacy, and preparedness.
She is the recipient of several honors, including Woman of the Year (2024), the Make Lemonade Queen Award from The Lemonade Circle (2024), and the Woman On the Move Award (2025). The Female Executives of Texas also profiled her for her leadership and impact in the safety space. In October 2024, Rai Washington provided firearms instruction and commentary on the Second Amendment to international reporters from Washington, D.C. and Austria as part of a global election coverage feature. In March 2025, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism, followed by the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in April 2025, presented by the Biden-Harris Administration. Rai Washington was a featured speaker at events such as The Inspiring Woman Club and She Who Inspires Me Tea and served as the Emcee for the Men of Honor Image Awards in June 2025.
