Executive Programs Director

Dr. Lataya Hawkins is Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and Social Work Officer. She is currently stationed at the Medical Center of Excellence, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where she serves as the Associate Dean for the Army Graduate School and an Assistant Professor in the Army-University of Kentucky, Master Social Work Program. She earned a PhD in social work from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, University of Texas, Austin and a master’s degree in social work, from the University of Houston, Graduate School of Social Work. She is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience in the U.S. Army. She is a published author and has presented at numerous conferences on moral injury and moral distress and its impact on service members and healthcare providers. She serves in many roles, but the two she is most proud of are being a wife to her husband, Deric, and mother to her daughter, Destinee.
